Skin test

Clients who have not had a colour service before, or have not had a colour service for over 6 months at The Room at Berryfields, must make arrangements for a complimentary consultation to be booked which will include a skin allergy test, this is to ensure you and your stylist can talk through what you would like us to achieve for you. Allergy tests must take place no later than 48 hours’ before a colour service appointment.

Late Arrivals

Your Artist will always try their best to accommodate you if you are late, however this is not always possible, without impacting subsequent guests.

If you are more than 10 minutes late, it may not be possible to carry out your service in full and you will still be charged the full cost of the service you would have had.  If it is not possible to carry out your service in the time remaining, we will offer to reschedule, however 100% of the service cost will be charged, and the 20% deposit will then be charged for the re-booked service. It is your responsibility to arrive on time and provide accurate contact information to receive reminders and updates about your appointment.  – Please notify us as soon as possible if your circumstances change.

Refunds

Deposits are non-refundable, except in the case of salon-initiated cancellations and emergencies.

The Room at Berryfields reserves the right to refuse any guest we feel is unfit for a service, this includes but is not limited to:

  • Any guest that appears under the influence of drugs and/or excessive alcohol consumption.

  • Certain services that are known as contra-indications, these are conditions that can interfere with a result of a treatment.  Any medical conditions, allergies,  or colour history that are displayed or made aware to us during the consultation as a contra-indication will be explained to you by your Artist, why the service cannot be carried out.  They will discuss if there is another service more suitable.

  • A guest who has not been skin tested

  • A guest who has had an allergic reaction to our colour, or ANY colour brand in the past.

  • We operate a zero tolerance policy to protect our team.  Any guest who displays behaviors that make a member of our team or other guests uncomfortable, disrespected or intimidated will be asked to leave (and may still be charged the balance of their service).  We provide a safe environment for our team and guests and this should be respected.

STYLIST LEVELS

The Stylist Level System at The Room at Berryfields hair salon offers our clients options when it comes to salon services as well as providing a career path for growth and achievement for our team members. Clients may choose the stylist/level that best compliments their requests and needs from skill-set/experience, to budget. (View our detailed price list here)

In short, levels are based on what we like to call: “R.E.D.”, which stands for REPUTATION, EDUCATION & DEMAND. As our stylists grow in each area, they earn the opportunity to be promoted to more advanced levels.

Here’s how we do it:

Learn. Grow. Pay Forward. Repeat.

That is the mantra behind our unique salon culture that allows our team members to create and uphold the level of high standards that we’ve become known for. Commitment to innovation and continued education is just the tip of the iceberg. What ties it all together is our dedication to teamwork and empowering one another to be our best selves in the work that we do… and our clients can feel it. When you visit The Room at Berryfields, you will notice that our team of professionals of ALL experience levels work together cohesively to serve one common goal: Make people happy.

New Talent Stylists:

Apprentice | New Talent | Stylist (Level 1 & 2)

APPRENTICE

Our Apprentices are working towards their NVQ level 2 and they are working through our in-house training program.  They assist our Stylists throughout the day and receive hands-on training with live models once a week under the guidance of our Senior/Master stylists.

Completion of the Apprentice NVQ level 2 may take anywhere from 6 -18 months, after which, they will be able to begin taking clients on the floor as a “NEW TALENT” (Level 1).

NEW TALENT

Our New Talents are transitioning from Apprentice Program to Stylist (Level 1). They have gained and developed the skills necessary to deliver quality services in select areas of their craft, and offer a limited menu of services to our clients at a cost effective price.

NEW TALENTS are still accepting model services for curriculum-specific modules until the completion of their program after which they will have fully graduated to a STYLIST (Level 1).

Stylist (Level 1)

Our Stylists (Level 1) are either graduates of our Apprentice Program, or they have joined The Room at Berryfields early in their career and have chosen to grow their craft within our Dream Team.  They are competent in foundational cutting, styling and colouring services, and they often collaborate with our Senior/Master Stylists for more advanced services.

Stylists (level 1) have a minimum of 1 year of experience, and are working on building their confidence as they sharpen their skills and evolve in their craft.  Booking your service with a Stylist (Level 1) is a great option for those who seek a high quality service at a more cost effective price point than booking with a Senior Stylist or Master Stylist.

Stylist (level 2)

Our Stylists (Level 2) have over 2+ years on the shop floor after graduating evolving what they do.  Through the years they have gained higher confidence in more cutting, styling and colouring services. They have a good amount of knowledge to perform restyles and more fashionable colouring services.  They can also give brilliant guidance to their clients so they are able to achieve beautiful hair at home themselves, with an expert opinion on which products and tools would suit each client best.

Seasoned Stylists:

Experienced Stylist (Level 3) & Salon Director (Level 4)

Our Experienced and Salon Directors are industry leaders who not only bring their reputations, decades of experience and worldly education to the team, but they are also committed to paying their expertise forward. Our seasoned stylists help mentor and inspire our new talents to develop their skills through practice and experience.

Experienced Stylist (Levels 3)

Our Experienced Stylists have accumulated several years of experience, education and skill from both behind the chair, as well as through top continuing education. They are well equipped to handle the many intricacies of customised cutting and colouring services. They are also skilled in advanced services, such as extensive colour projects and colour corrections. At this stage, Experienced Stylists begin to take part in mentoring Apprentices & Stylists (Level 1) to help shape the skills of our future stylists.

Salon Director (level 4)

Our Salon Directors are true masters of their craft.  They are established, respected, and carry a reputation for excellence that has earned them this title.  With years, sometimes decades of experience, advanced education and the highest demand for their services, there isn’t much a Salon Director hasn’t handled in his or her craft. They are leaders in the organisation, and experienced mentors who pay their knowledge forward to the future generation of up & coming talent!
